We may still be in the middle of a pandemic but celebrities are finding ways to still (legally) live their lives. Case in point: Harry Styles popped up in Rome across the weekend, reportedly for a holiday. The “Watermelon Sugar” singer was snapped jogging around the streets wearing a pair of little black gym shorts, so 80s that they give Arnold Schwarzenegger, Kenny G and Tom Selleck a run for their hey-day money. (The kids reading this will not know who the latter two are, I’m sure!)
With a butterfly clip attached to his waist and a Nike tank up top, Styles ran though the cobbled streets unattended with his Apple AirPods in and Maps displayed on his iPhone. He was jogging at such pace that fans didn’t clock the star straight away until he was indeed a distant blur.

It was the 26-year-old’s polarising new Freddie Mercury-esque moustache, however, that perhaps made onlookers double take Styles’ Roman cameo. Hidden underneath a mask for months – and now a blue baseball cap as he pounded the pavement – fans were extremely torn over the new facial hair.
“Can you believe Harry Styles invented the moustache?” one fan wrote, while others threatened to “eat their own arms” should he keep the look. It’s not the first time Styles has teased a mo, either.
“I’ve decided that I want a moustache…But not like a cool guy moustache.. I mean like a Mario moustache. Oh Yeaaahhhhhh!!” Styles tweeted in June 2011. Nine years later, here we are: Super Mario on his way to meet Bowser and Princess Peach at the Trevi Fountain.
Despite “Watermelon Sugar”’s streaming success, Styles didn’t earn any VMA nominations in major categories. Many thought the track’s music video was a sure-thing. Instead his track “Adore You” is up for Best Direction, Best Visual Effects and Best Art Direction.
To be honest, Styles’ Calm app sleep story should have been nominated in its own new category: Best Content To Fall Asleep To During Quarantine. With or without a moustache, the guy has still got it.
