Young British-American designer Harris Reed has already made a name for himself as one of fashions brightest lights, but the Spring 2023 show in London yesterday certainly cemented his power.
The show itself flipped the idea of a debutante ball, pairing corsets with bubble hems in eye-popping colours; hats, sequins, towering stilettos… if it was extravagant, it was included.

Furthering the collection was the beauty, an incredible series of looks by Sofia Schwarzkopf-Tilbury and the Charlotte Tilbury team. On a video posted to Instagram, Reed explained that the purpose of each elaborate look was to play up the idea of characters, a bold, brilliant display of colour, texture and shine:
“When creating the clothes that I make I always imagine that individual as a character, a character that best expresses who they truly are, A facet of themselves that they are maybe even scared sometimes to show to the world. I have always tried to push peoples ideas of confidence and queer celebration, I truly have never felt I have been able to fully show it until this show and this collaboration I have had with Sofia. The use of colour texture crystals, techniques and products I have never seen in make up fully encapsulates the entire character it was that I was trying to give. I want to thank from the bottom of my heart Sofia and her entire team for bringing truly a moment that I could never imagine to life!!”
Schwarzkopf-Tilbury used the brand’s iconic product lineup to create draped blush, hyper-glossed lips, smoked shadow and glistening skin (the Hollywood Flawless Filter and Pinkgasm Blush among them) . Brows were subdued but the pigment was rich, resulting in a fantastical series of looks that were perfectly in tune with the wondrous collection.
Hair stylist Ali Pirzadeh created the equally-beautiful hair look: wet-look waves, intricate curls, other-worldly shapes and plenty of shine. Theatrical and over-the-top, Pirzadeh’s work blended seamlessly (quite literally) with the makeup.
As far as memorable beauty moments go, Harris Reed’s London show was unmatched.
