hair accessory trends 2021

This past year has been a long decade, so if you’re feeling a little less-than-inspired to style your hair in our current climate, we totally sympathise. But in lieu of motivation, might we suggest enlisting the assistance of a chic hair accessory to do all the heavy lifting?

There are a number of solutions if you’re finding your strands – and perhaps everything else – a little monotonous right now. So take your cues from your favourite celebrities and try out one of these three hair accessory trends, which are set to dominate 2021.

The Scrunchie

Of course Dua Lipa can make the humble scrunchie look cool. Scrunchies have been hovering on fashion’s periphery for some time now, but post-2020 they’re all we want to wear. Opt for a style that will offer a little polish and will still maintain the same comfort level as your lounge wear.

The Clip

Slides, claw clips and barrettes are de riguer right now, (hello Fendi Fall 2021), which is probably due to their effortlessness . No matter what state your mane is in, simply clip a section or two away from your face and it looks like you spent a lot more time on your hair than you actually did. Top tip? A designer iteration only ups the illusion.

The Headband

Call it the Amanda Gorman effect, but headbands are certainly back on the agenda since the young poet wore her crimson one to President Joe Biden’s inauguration in January. If statement headwear isn’t your thing, go for something more subtle with a thin, pearl-embellished band.
