There hasn’t been a time in recent history where the lip has had so much attention. Our preoccupation with big (read: ginormous) lips has become almost all-consuming, with not only social media littered with overtly puffed-up pouts, but just general, quotidian life. Thanks to readily available and relatively inexpensive injectables (and an unhealthy obsession with The Real Housewives Of Everywhere) the rise of lip filler is no longer reserved for those of fame and fortune, and whilst we can’t exactly track its trajectory, we can isolate a particular turning point; a certain family that begin with K. So whilst we don’t all yearn for that overblown duck-face, a little puffed-up, pillowy goodness never hurt anyone (or their lips). Here are three quick hacks to plump and soften your lips for the best pillow talk of your life.

Scrub-a-dub-dub
For the dreamiest pout, you need supremely butter-soft lips. The way to achieve this? To exfoliate, of course. Slough away the flakes with Dior’s clever little scrub stick, which both exfoliates and nourishes with tiny grains of sugar which melt away as they work. For prime exfoliation, rub the grainy texture between your lips back and forth a few times, and a smooth, rosy pout will ensue. No I-Quit-Sugar here.diorlipscrubDior Lip Sugar Scrub, $49. Shop Now

Plump Iron
An Instagram celebrity, lip gel masks are on, well, everyone’s lips. Why? A) They plump your pout in minutes. B) Make for a great selfie (aka what more could you want?). Volume-inducing, line-blurring, moisture-sealing, these cute-as-pie patches use an advanced transdermal delivery system to get all their plant, marine-based actives into your pout. Our lips are sealed.

Down To The Line
A little line goes a long way. And whilst the ol’ Kylie Jenner “it’s lip liner” rhetoric didn’t fool anyone, you very much can augment the size of your lips with a steady hand and a slight overdraw. The trick is to follow the exact shape of your natural lip line, over-exaggerating it just slightly. Think of it as colouring in – except just outside the line, instead of inside. Have a case of the shakes? Try starting from the centre of the lip and working outwards, in soft strokes, gently building up colour from the inside out.
