Despite her extremely bizarre theories on how she discovered meditation, why walking around barefoot can cure depression or her claim water does indeed have feelings, Gwyneth Paltrow honeymooning with her new husband and her old husband at the same time in the same place has got to take the cake.

Paltrow, 46, married producer and writer Brad Falchuk in September 2018 and the newlyweds spent the Christmas holidays in the Maldives with their children – and Paltrow’s ex-husband Chris Martin and his new girlfriend actress Dakota Johnson. What?

“It was a very modern honeymoon,” Paltrow told Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest on Wednesday. The anchors struggled to mentally sift through the numerous questions in their heads. Like, “why?”.

“We just took our honeymoon in the Maldives and we had a big family honeymoon over Christmas,” Paltrow explained. “So, my new husband and his children, my children, my ex-husband, our best family friends. It was a very modern honeymoon.” The actress-turned lifestyle blogger says it surprisingly wasn’t awkward at all. Oh, just great conversation and lots of kids. It was great. We had such a good time.”

Paltrow said she and Martin wanted to minimise the pain their separation caused for their children, and while the trip was unconventional, it was important for Apple, 14, and Moses, 12, to see their parents happy and together, even if not romantically linked anymore – or should we say consciously coupled.

“They just want to see their parents around the dinner table, basically, so we try to keep that.”

It’s still weird, Gwyneth.
