It was hard not to spot Madison Stubbington backstage at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week 2017. Her bright red hair, porcelain skin and strawberry pout stood out welcomely from the unofficial ‘outdoorsy’ formula for many of the models walking across the week.

Starring in the current Gucci campaign and fresh off the Gucci Resort 2016 catwalk, we spoke to Stubbington in between shows at MBFWA for her fashion week survival guide.

“Before fashion week I went to Melanie Grant for a facial and she got me onto Cosmedix Purity Clean Cleanser and Skinceuticals BE serum, which I have been really liking helps balance my skin.

My hair for some reason is actually ok despite having to endure a lot of styling on shoots and during fashion week. I just use some MoroccanOil only ends and that helps it a lot. In my bag (She was toting a Chloe Hudson mini in Caramel on the day) I always carry an EOS Lip Balm and water.”

“I used to get really nervous during fashion week but now I have a little routine and it helps me relax. I’ll just grab a coffee, head backstage and call a friend while I sit in the make-up chair. I just try to zone out to everything that’s happening around me and not get too stressed!”

It’s always great to come to and do the shows at home. I loved walking in Toni’s (Maticevski) show to star the week. I always love his collections though I am a bit sad I didn’t get to wear any of the kinky handcuffs! Dion’s (Lee) show was beautiful and the location was amazing.

Australian Fashion week is so fun and relaxed, in general I find Australia is more relaxed than overseas, so it’s a different experience.”
