Last week on Hollywood Boulevard, Gucci’s Creative Director Alessandro Michele held Gucci Love Parade, a runway event of grandiose proportions. The seasonless collection was filled with pop culture moments: child star Macaulay Culkin walked the runway, Gwyneth Paltrow wore a remake of the iconic Tom Ford for Gucci red velvet suit she had on at the 1996 MTV Video Music Awards, Billie Eilish was even sitting in the front row.
Of course the looks were also incredible, characterised by big gowns, feathers, sequins, satin, suiting and tulle. It felt like a glimpse into the future — one that’s filled with parties, travel, closeness and celebration. The beauty aesthetic was also in perfect alignment. Perth-born makeup artist and Gucci Global Makeup Consultant Thomas De Kluyver created six looks for the occasion: a soft smoky eye, an inky manicure, glossed skin, a black lip, a small heart motif and a coral pout.
“We wanted to play with the ideas of classic makeup, doing subtle nods to old Hollywood styles of beauty but twisting them and making them feel contemporary,” — Thomas de Kluyver.
