At 70 years old, she doesn’t look a day over brand new. The mini, polished version of Gucci’s original ‘Hobo’ is the latest instalment in the life of a shoulder bag more famously known as the ‘Jackie 1961’. Ms. Onassis, then Mrs. Kennedy, is this storied satchel’s fairy godmother. Toting it during the years she reigned as First Lady of the White House – and first lady of fashion – the carry-all became as signature to her covetable elegance as her oval shades and preppy pea coats.

For Fall/Winter 2020, Gucci creative director Alessandro Michele drew on the brand’s fountain of youth to include a new three-size range into his distinctly neo-vintage, non-binary menswear collection. In a wheel of gelato, achromatic, python and lock-motif finishes, the micro version – replete with a new detachable strap and extra clasp – marks a suitably chic next chapter for this fifties-designed classic.

This is Gucci’s new work of art.
