Fresh Off The Red Carpet: The Best Menswear From The Golden Globes 2024
Consider the Golden Globes a sartorial compass for the rest of awards season
As the first major event of the year the Golden Globes is both a sartorial compass for formal menswear as it is the direction the wind will be blowing as far as award season sweeps.
Last year, that direction was for colour: plums and pastels, tans, deep green and even a tye-die look. It was also the year of ditching formality for a more rakish approach to red carpet slash black tie dress.
But that was then. This year, nods to formality (or a version thereof) has revived. While ties may still be off the table for some time yet and proportions have been exaggerated, the suit has regained its structure.
Trousers and jackets, while not oversized, still gave the perception of roomier cuts courtesy of a slight elongation of the blazer and pants wider than normal. Ramy Youssef and Jared Leto both opted for the maximum experience here while Best Actor winner Jeremy Allen White opted for a subtler interpretation.
