In October last year, the world was given a shocking and unexpected update on Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik’s relationship, after Hadid’s mum, Yolanda Hadid, accused the musician of physically assaulting her in Hadid’s New York City apartment while she was in Paris for fashion week.

At the time, Malik was charged with four criminal offences of harassment. He pleaded no contest and received probation as a result, later taking to social media to deny the claims of harassment, adding that he decided to enter a plea of no contest to “create a safe and private space” for his daughter, Khai, whom he shares with Hadid, to “grow up in.”

Following the news, neither Hadid nor Malik addressed the state of their romantic relationship, though sources quickly confirmed they had split. In the months following, both parties avoided posting anything personal online, including photos of their daughter, whom they’d previously spoken about wanting to protect from the public eye.

Now, eight months on, it appears the former couple are on good terms — at least when it comes to co-parenting Khai.

For Father’s Day, Hadid posted a tribute to her own father, Mohammad, to her Instagram stories, adding on another slide a separate shout-out to Malik. “& to Khai’s baba !!!!,” the supermodel wrote, alongside a cropped photo showing Malik help his daughter draw.

Hadid didn’t tag Malik in the post, nor write anything especially sentimental, but the post itself is a positive step forward for the young family.

A source close to Hadid’s family spoke to E! News last year about their co-parenting setup, saying, “Gigi and Zayn are broken up, but intend to co-parent Khai in a peaceful and healthy environment. They are working out custody details. They are in contact over Khai and making decisions for her.”
