Adriana Lima shone a light on the lengths some Victoria’s Secret Angels go to to look slim ahead of the lingerie label’s annual parade in a 2011 interview with the Telegraph, admitting she sticks to a ‘liquids only diet’ for nine days before the show, and even abstains from drinking water for 12 hours beforehand.

Not Gigi Hadid. With the next parade happening at the end of this month, Hadid has revealed she’s upping her carb intake.

“Right now I’m doing a lot of squats and eating my carbs because my butt is what I’m trying to work on … it just needs to get a little perkier,” she told Access Hollywood.

“I’m eating a lot and squatting a lot. I don’t want to get skinner at this point.”

It’s unlikely she’s tucking into pizza or mac and cheese, but it’s true that small portions of the right kind of carbs, such as whole-wheat pasta and bread, sweet potato and beans can aid weight loss, as they keep you fuller for longer, are low in sugar and fat, and provide energy for pushing harder in workouts.

The 21-year-old also touched on boyfriend Zayn Malik, who’s been public about his battles with anxiety – he’s cancelled several performances due to his mental health.

Hadid said she was proud of her singer boyfriend of around a year for showing other men that’s it doesn’t mean they’re weak if they experience mental illness.

“He’s so amazing and is really working every day to progress and learn more about himself and what truly makes him happy.”

The Victoria’s Secret parade airs on December 5. Obviously, we’re carb-loading in solidarity.
