For many months now a blend of Y2K and ’90s aesthetics has come to the fore of our fashionable subconsciousness. We’ve swapped heels for combat boots and well-fitting, flattering denim for the low-slung variety. Now, for the latest release of delicate wares, Danish jeweller Georg Jensen has revisited grunge and punk-inspired style for the launch of Reflect.
“This beautiful collection gives the classic chain a brand- new and contemporary look, all while retaining the superior and expert craftsmanship Georg Jensen is known for,” explains Ragnar Hjartarson, Georg Jensen’s Creative Director.
Presenting a fresh take on the traditional chain design, Reflect draws influence from ’90s London aesthetics while still honouring the brand’s legacy of expert craftsmanship. The collection is the brain child of American designer Jacqueline Rabun (who was originally self-taught by the way) and hopes to celebrate the beauty of individuality.
The longtime collaborator of the brand drew from the aesthetics of London’s 90s subculture as well as its freeing ideals – where jewellery was considered a way for people to express their individuality.
The collection’s name, Reflect, fully captures this. “The name is a perfect expression of how the design of the collection was born; it reflects the times past and present and how we are connected through the human experience,” says Rabun.
Georg Jensen is traditionally known for a focus on silverware with Reflect as no exception. The beloved chain link has received a more organic-shaped and chunky treatment across necklaces, bracelets, ring and earrings in both a bold iteration as well as a thin, pared-back style.
For the debut campaign which was unveiled today and shot in a historic Copenhagen mansion, select designs from Reflect are captured on the décolletage and wrists of Prince Felix of Denmark and model Fiona Reventlow-Grinling.
