Since she burst onto the scene with her standout roles in Little Women and Midsommer, Florence Pugh has been a blonde through and through. The British native’s long messy golden locks have become synonymous with her persona, similar to the likes of fellow famous blondes Blake Lively and Reese Witherspoon.

Though she’s experimented with adding coloured tones at her ends, like the purple she wore to the Dior show earlier this year, until a few months ago, Pugh had never strayed too far from her natural hues. But ahead of the release of her highly anticipated new film Don’t Worry, Darling, which she stars in alongside none other than Harry Styles, the actress debuted the hair transformation of all hair transformations.

On Instagram, the 25-year-old posted two images of herself from a New York apartment, captioned simply, “I did a thing.” The thing Pugh is referring to, of course, is chopping all of her long hair off into a choppy brunette bob with curtain bangs. Pugh originally experimented with darker locks in the northern hemisphere’s summer a few months ago, however, for this transformation, she dyed her hair a darker shade of brown to match her new super short do.

To debut her new look to the world, she posed on a bed with her new chop damp from the shower and tousled in messy waves. She wore just a sweater bralette and no makeup, and likely enlisted her longtime boyfriend Zach Braff for photographer duty, as he’s dutifully done in the past. The style immediately got the approval from over two million people, including the likes of Ariana Grande, who wrote “i am crying stunning”, Hailee Steinfeld who added, “absolutely” and Gemma Chan, who commented simply, “Yessssss 🔥🔥🔥”

In fact, Pugh’s actor boyfriend Braff might not only be hired help to show us the change, but he might have influenced it: Twitter account Pop Crave reported Pugh’s shorter hairstyle is for her new movie, The Good Person, which is currently in production and directed by Braff.

Per Deadline, the plot follows Allison (Pugh) “whose life falls apart after her involvement in a fatal accident” and the relationship she forms with her would-be father-in-law. Starring alongside Pugh in the film is Molly Shannon, Morgan Freeman, Celeste O’Connor and Zoe Lister-Jones.
