It’s all in the bag for Salvatore Ferragamo. Now more than ever, what you wear on your shoulder should be a signature accessory that’s versatile and can be teamed with any outfit, to wherever your post-lockdown social calendar takes you.

“It becomes part of you and your signature, rather than the other way around,” says GRAZIA’s fashion director Aileen Marr.

Ferragamo’s Trifolio bag – which comes in four styles; a shoulder bag, a top handle, a mini, and a tote – is a classic investment piece. Below, Marr takes you through five ways to style the Trifolio bag, from a Clueless-inspired take on the accessory, to making a case for a mini version accompaniment.

LOGOMANIA

Team the Trifolio bag like it’s the 90s with a daytime outfit of jeans and a cropped tee, Bella Hadid-style, as a statement in its own right. “The monogram is definitely very of-the-moment,” Marr says. “It’s a new interpretation of the 90s look, of logomania. It’s less garish and obvious. A bag like that is cool because you can were it as a statement, to break up a neutral, everyday outfit.”

IT’S A MATCH

Pair the Trifolio shoulder bag in Ferragamo’s Gancini pattern – which was introduced by the brand in 2019 – in jacquard fabric, with a printed shoe. “Let those be the accents,” Marr advises. “Worn that way, it has a 60s and 70s (style) to it, Belle de Jour-ish,” Marr says. “It’s a very elegant use of the Ferragamo logo and it’s timeless in that respect.”

BACK TO BASICS

Made in Italy from semi-gloss calf leather, the Trifolio shoulder bag comes in multiple colourways – including a pastel hue dubbed “cheerleader pink”, which wouldn’t look out of place on Cher-era Alicia Silverstone at a house party in Beverly Hills. “Pastels are huge,” Marr says. “I think they freshen up the neutrals that are out there, that we’ve had for season after season. A little pink is more of a statement than naturally leaning towards a black bag. It helps update anything you’re wearing. You could go Clueless with a pretty little dress or a suit-like outfit.”

SUITED UP

Add the Trifolio in “astronaut white” or the aforementioned “cheerleader pink” with a breezy summer blazer and trousers for the office. “You could go with a classic white pants suit or all-black like Brooke Shields below. What the actress could have done is put the pink Trifolio in there, and let it just be ‘it’,” Marr says. “It would make the whole look more contemporary.”

MINI MOMENT

A play on the micro bag trend, comes Ferragamo’s smallest Trifolio size, the minibag – in black, “footballer blue” and “cheerleader pink” – and it’s actually practical. “Mini bags are in: thanks to the iPhone, we don’t need (to carry) much, we just need our keys, phone and our lippy,” Marr says. “Unless you carry it all, then you might need something a little larger – for the office.” Whatever size suits your life – and style – Ferragamo’s Trifolio is classic shape fit for any accessories wardrobe. “It has that statement ring clasp, it’s never going to really date because it’s timeless and chic. Ferragamo always has that appeal.”
