Fall 2021 menswear fashion shows

All eyes are on the runway right now as fashion labels debut their Fall-Winter 2020-2021 menswear collections. We’ve seen lavish layering at Louis Vuitton, men’s handbags in practically every shape and size, and a surprisingly large amount of turtlenecks. But besides the garments and accessories, one understated fact about men’s fashion shows is that, like women’s, beauty plays a vital part in the presentation. Likewise, it sets the tone for the ever-evolving beauty industry—a sentiment that’s even more important today as we transgress towards a more gender-neutral, inclusive future.

So far this fashion week season, we’ve seen some great hair, makeup, and skin-focused looks, all of which align with the industry’s expected beauty and grooming trends for 2021. In particular, there’s one hairstyle we expect both men and women to fall in love with this year (hint: you might have a love/hate relationship with the look). To summarize what we’ve seen from fall 2021 menswear fashion shows thus far, there’s a celebration of au naturel beauty across-the-board.

Below, GRAZIA breaks down some of the most notable beauty lessons we’ve learned from the Fall-Winter 2020-2021 menswear shows in Milan and Paris—including Louis Vuitton, Prada, Zegna, and more. Be sure to check back for updates as men’s fashion week continues in New York and London.

etro: bangs aren’t always a bad idea

Hairstylists expect bangs to trend in 2021, so it makes sense that they were a focal point of the Etro Fashion Show beauty look on January 16 during Milan Fashion Week. All hair types embraced the style, including straight-haired models and curly-haired ones.

tods: PUT DOWN THE TWEEZER

Lorenzo Zurzolo of the Italian teen drama Baby stars in the luxury Italian label’s Fall 2021 collection film, called #sevenT. Besides the wardrobe, it’s nearly impossible to look away from the actor’s full brows. We expect natural, slightly overgrown brows to continue to trend this year. That means the soap brow eyebrow trend will continue to take over your social media feeds until further notice.

Missoni: A LITTLE BLUSH GOES A LONG WAY

There’s nothing like the allure of skin that looks lightly flushed, like you just hopped off your snowboard after a day on the slopes. That’s the exact vibe we get from Missoni’s men’s Fall 2021 collection, which debuted on January 21, 2021, entirely focused on cozy knitwear.

Prada: PASTELS ARE GROUNDBREAKING IN EVERY SEASON

Dame Pat McGrath gave models soft pastel eyeshadow, as revealed on the iconic makeup artist’s Instagram feed. Below, the model on the left wears lavender eyeshadow teamed with a fuchsia lip, while the model on the right wears a shade of pink.

ZEGNA: putting on makeup is extra special in 2021

“For most of the time, we will have a more relaxed attitude,” Alessandro Sartori, Artistic Director of Ermenegildo Zegna tells GRAZIA exclusively, speaking about the current state of the world and how fashion fits into it. “But we will still need classic evening wear because we’ll enjoy going out to a beautiful concert or lovely dinner… we will enjoy the moment, as a special moment, to be in a different place.” This sentiment rings true to the beauty and fashion presented in the show. The upcoming line prioritizes comfort and adaptability and ultimately gives the idea of formality a whole new meaning.

Louis Vuitton: EARRINGS CAN ELEVATE ONE’s ENTIRE LOOK

At the Louis Vuitton show on January 20, models hit the runway rocking their natural, fresh-faced complexion. We noticed that several men wore earrings, including drop styles and studs. Even though earrings are a style choice, it appears as though the designs were meant to dress their skin’s natural canvas.
