The COVID-19 pandemic changed the way I view beauty entirely. Gone are the days when I cower over my bathroom sink to get an up-close look at the proportions of my winged eyeliner in the mirror. Now, my everyday makeup routine is solely comprised of ILIA Super Serum Skin Tint, Hourglass Cosmetics Vanish Blush Stick, and whichever new mascara I’m testing for work. Even though my current regime is uber-minimal, I still love to follow the beauty industry’s leading makeup artists for a dose of glam. My latest obsession? Emma Chamberlain’s magenta winged liner, courtesy of celebrity makeup artist Ash K Holm.
The Los Angeles-based beauty pro brought the colourful look to life for a Mane Addicts editorial, photographed by Mike Rosenthal. The eye-catching glam is, essentially, a less intense version of the “feline cat-eye” that Barbara Palvin debuted last November. Both makeup artists gave their clients an outer corner wing and followed the shape of their inner tear duct to make their eyes pop. Holm loaded the social media star’s lower lashes with mascara and applied rose-toned eyeshadow to her lids. As for the rest of her makeup, it appears as though she’s wearing pink blush and a shade of lipstick that naturally enhanced her pout.
Holm has yet to reveal the exact products she used to get the look, but I’ve gone ahead and rounded up some of the best magenta-coloured eyeliners out there to recreate the fun summer glam at home.
