Question for your Monday: Is it ok to hang a self-portrait – in a bikini – in your living room? It appears that for American model and unapologetic feminist Emily Ratajakowski, the answer is yes. The 25-year-old posted an unabashed Instagram image of her downtown LA factory-turned-loft across the weekend and positioned next to the couch where she enjoys pizza was a (non-small) framed Instagram photo of herself, complete with comments. While it does seem a little odd, we’re not completely surprised and for the perennially confident among us they may not be surprised at all. “I’ve always felt comfortable in own skin,” Ratajkowski has said. “I grew up going to beaches in Spain where I would see topless women. My dad is a visual artist so I have seen so many nude paintings and that was something I always loved and was drawn to. I always found the female form from the photographer or the artists’ side to be a really interesting and beautiful subject. So I never really thought of judging my body.” And neither she should. But is hanging up a solo Instagram picture of yourself in your living room narcissistic? Is it vain? Is it a celebration of self-love? Perhaps she was gifted the art? Comments from this post have been disabled on Ratajkowski’s Instagram account so leave your thoughts below.
