Drunk Elephant Electrolyte Waterfacial Review

While there’s no honour in being perpetually busy, I’m still a sucker for any product that saves me time and/or effort (and I don’t think I’m the only one). It’s this sentiment that has seen the category of “sleep beauty” take off, or in other words, products that work wonders while you snooze. The concept is simple: the skin flips into repair mode at night, making it the perfect occasion to load up on actives that really work to visibly improve your complexion. Drunk Elephant aren’t necessarily a trend-driven beauty brand (rather they’re interested in formulations that are both clean an efficacious), but its latest launch – a sleeping mask – is certainly one worth waking up for.

The overnight mask is a gel-balm hybrid that’s essentially a cocktail of all the good stuff: niacinamide (for repair), squalane (hydrating and repairing), omega fatty acids (super nourishing), hyaluronic acid (to draw in moisture content) and ceramides (to restore barrier function). It’s main function is to supremely soothe and hydrate – think plump, soft, juicy skin.

Upon application, it’s cooling and silky – like after-sun gel that’s been in the fridge. I found it melted in quite easily, but felt a little tacky for about half an hour following, so best to apply an hour or so before you go to sleep. By sunrise, my skin was soft – so soft. And incredibly hydrated. And luminous. Basically, my skin was a dream (only I was, quite literally awake). Second time around, I popped it in the fridge and applied after a day spent swimming in the ocean – bliss for salty skin. But thanks to its gentle hydrating properties, I’ll be taking this one straight into the cooler months too. Drunk Elephant, as always, has delivered.
