The savoir-faire of a Dior creation is ever-fascinating. Poetry in motion, if you will. The French fashion house has forever been steeped in the techniques of haute couture and even today, with a collection of seasonal leather goods and footwear, does the brand still pride itself on meticulous craftsmanship. Creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri reinterprets the iconic Dior cannage each and every season with Fall 2022 no exception. With the release of a new collection the brand has expanded its offering of coveted handbags to include the new fluffy Macrocannage DiorCamp bag.

Past iterations of the cannage, such as the Lady Dior, have not quite seen the sensory appeal that the forthcoming style has. Distinguished by its architectural curves that emphasise its horizontal format, the new silhouette is reworked according to a unique quilting process. Thanks to an innovative technique that makes use of a specific leather, this enveloping material distills the lightness and softness of a down jacket’s fabric, combining extreme thinness with high performance. Thus, this exclusive material features the macrocannage pattern magnified by a silky touch and a luminous finish.

From a single piece of black (or white) leather, each piece of the bag is cut with precision, stitched and its edges painted. Taking cues from style fundamentals, it’s finished with a sportswear-inspired “CD” signature buckle in a silver metal. An adjustable shoulder strap means it can be worn across the body – as seen on the runway – or simply over the shoulder. Alternatively, remove the strap altogether for a compact sporty clutch.

Form meets function. We can already see it being draped over the shoulder of Yara Shahidi or clutched by the side of Natalie Portman this season.
