When Dior’s Spring/Summer 2024 Haute Couture collection hit the runway in Paris in January, creative and image director for Dior Makeup, Peter Philips, dramatically accentuated the eye. Yes, second to the coats with imposing collars and wide skirts revealing exaggerated cut-outs, was an intense—albeit soft—two-step eye look.
“I framed the eyes with a smoky liner on the lower lash line. I emphasised it with a strong line of Diorshow On Stage Crayon 099 Black, then I used the light brown shade from the Diorshow 5 Couleurs 539 Grand Bal palette, which I applied along the upper lash line,” Philips explained at the time. “I used the top right shade and applied it at the centre of the eyelid for a touch of brightness. I finished the look by structuring the eyebrows with Diorshow On Set Brow and Diorshow Brow Styler.”

This aesthetic informed GRAZIA’s shoot with the house of Dior inside its March print edition. Shooting the Maison’s Spring/Summer 2024 collection—the lace! The pinafores! The knits unravelling at the shoulder!—inside a palace in Istanbul, our heroine took on the role of a ballerina: intense, albeit soft.
Balancing the look, our makeup artist used Rouge Dior Couture Colour Lipstick in 360 Souffle de Rose – Velvet Finish and Rouge Dior Balm 000 Diornatural – Satiny finish for added shine. Cheeks were kept flushed with the Rouge Dior Blush in 975 Opéra, which was built upon according to the intensity of the eye. It’s widely known Philips likes to use Dior Forever Skin Glow at all his runway shows, a creamy and hydrating formula which lasts 24 hours without touch-ups. We used this as the model’s base, a saviour on long, warm shoot days.
