In a city where standing out is actually code for fitting in, a headline-grabbing party outfit that can out-do the others is a stylist’s number one priority. And at the Harper’s Bazaar’s ICONS By Carine Roitfeld event at The Plaza Hotel on Friday night in New York City, the stakes were even higher than usual: Gigi Hadid was there in a black, tulle Vivienne Westwood, Nicki Minaj in Alexandre Vauthier, Cardi B in Dolce & Gabbana (the latter two got into a physical fight with one another at the party).
Delilah Belle Hamlin – model, daughter of television actress Lisa Rinna and GRAZIA cover girl – topped the “Best Party Mini” charts in French design house Christian Lacroix. The little embellished number was pulled from the archives by stylist Andrew Gelwicks. The label – founded by Lacroix himself – in 1975 was an opulent haute couture house for many years albeit it never turned over a profit. In 2009, it went into administration laying off over one hundred workers and limiting the production to accessories and while Lacroix’s name remains part of the brand, he works with Barcelona-based clothing brand Desigual. So sorry fashion folk, you just can’t purchase this one.
Fashion lesson out of the way, this picture is the epitome of Lauv’s new track I Like Me Better, the opening lyrics, “To be young and in love in New York City”. We feel Emily Ratajkowski will be taking notes on this number right about now.
Make no mistake though, the internet belonged to Bella Hadid.
