Forget tears of joy – thanks to Peter Phillips, all we want to shed from this point forward is tears of crystal. The makeup fantasy, as seen at the Acne Studios Women’s Spring/Summer 2020 runway show, was a stellar example of magic-meets-artistry, with tiny glass-like crystals suspended from model’s eyebrows, settling neatly underneath the eye area. Being sad never looked so angelic.
Phillips, who is the creative and image director of Christian Dior Makeup, showcased the intricate runway looks on his Instagram channel, pointing out the use of silver liquid shadow, glitter stardust, and tiny glass-like crystals to piece together the dreamy beauty look for the occasion. The crystals in particular were attached via tiny threads of string presumably glued to the eyebrows.
Because of the high shine fixtures, skin was kept noticeably bare, with just a smudge of Dior Backstage Face and Body Foundation as well as the brand’s primer to even things out. Lips were plush but subdued, perhaps with a lick of Dior Lip Glow for good measure?
The hair was another story, with a high-shine wet finish the hero feature. Faux fringes were apparent, hinting that short, choppy bangs might be on the brink of a renaissance.
As far as runway beauty goes, the Acne Studios show was the perfect mix of undone, natural beauty but with a special twist – a galactic wash of silver straight from the heavens. Skip the mascara, unless you want to make a statement in the form of panda eyes as well, should literal crying occur.
