Gucci Resort 2017

Among the quieter trends to emerge following the recent Resort season was the arrival of see-through colour-tinted sunglasses. While we may historically link these to 60s-era sex pests like Christian Bale’s character in American Hustle or even worse to connotations of Ali G, the recent makeover of the tinted shade makes it yet another item you can add to your retro-sleazy-now-cool obsession (tucked in alongside over-the-knee boots and hoop earrings).
Gucci sent out yellow-tinted versions with silver frames, Loewe took them on in aviator form and how can we forget Dior recentlyteaming up with Rihanna for a thoroughly 90s-grime redux. And naturally, the model-ocracy ushers in the unmistakable genesis of the trend by hopping on board well before everyone else. Try it on for size yourself and if anyone accuses you of looking creepy, simply explain that you’re paying homage to Elton John.
