For over two centuries, French jewellery maison Chaumet has invited us into their world of masterful creations, sentimental pieces and enchanting bejewelled delights imbued with life.

Now, the luxuriate is exalting their naturalist roots and design methodology with an injection of exceptionally brilliant styles that pays homage to their history; one that is inextricably linked to Paris itself.

Chaumet’s latest brilliantly bold offering, the Bee My Love collection, combines traditions cemented by their legacy as the original Place Vendôme jewellery with a quintessential Parisian motif, the Napoléonic Bee, forging a connection that fuels both Chaumet’s innovative savoir-faire and bespoke radiance with a gilded spirit.

Timeless silhouettes are articulated with a renewed reverence courtesy of these new house signatures, including the anatomically correct and sun-evoking radiant Bee medallion, and graphic honeycomb forms peppered with brilliant-cut diamonds.

This new collection also sees the introduction of new rose gold and yellow gold variations of Chaumet’s signature Bee My Love hoop earrings and bold rings, offering a must-have parure bringing a form of abstraction and allure to the wearers quotidian habits. The introduction of the Bee My Love pendant, a new style inspired by the maison’s enviable hexagonal rings, is also of note.

In this collection, Chaumet offers a world of endless possibilities and evokes a sense of the brand’s formidable French heritage. Here, on GRAZIA’s “Exhibition” cover, a similar sense of optimism and pure imagination is invoked, with Norwegian model Frida Aasen the consummate Chaumet girl. Dripping in Bee My Love, GRAZIA invites you into a world so precious and radiant, it almost seems fantastical.

Below, we imagine the typical journey of a Chaumet wearer through Paris, a world overcome with dreamlike sensibility and meticulously articulated style.

As the sun peers above the mansard roofs of Paris’ first arrondissement, a lonely figure cuts her way across the Place Vendôme, her hands unidentifiable amongst the profusion of white ruffled tulle that cascades around her. She’s grasping the front of her tiered gown.

Her fingers, adorned with gilded hexagonal Chaumet Bee My Love rings that twinkle in the light as the Parisian sun catches the taille impératrice diamonds nestled in the rose gold band as she narrowly avoids the voluminous creation grazing along the tiled square below. The same can not be said for her billowing train, however, which surges behind her like a great wave leaving a trail of white foam in her wake.

It’s just after dawn during another frigid January winter, the only hour when the café society in their pageant dresses doesn’t feel out of place amongst the boulangers preparing their daily loaves for tender. We don’t catch the face of our heroine, but we know she’s a bona fide member of the beau monde, racing perfervidly to make it to her next order of business. 

Later, across town, our protagonist has changed into a less dramatic, albeit striking pale plum debutant-perfect gown. The perfect contrast to her yellow gold bold pendant, that frames her neckline with a bewitching melange of brilliant-cut diamonds set against a string of precious metal.

She’s in the whimsical mood that only Paris can provide; the sensation of being in the epicentre of art and culture. A place where the storied Haussaman-style houses are gateways to great adventure, and the museum-worthy dresses sauntering down the runways are sartorial story material, tales filled with grandiose hedonism. 

Paris is always a voyeuristic affair, watching and being watched simultaneously to great delight as you interrupt the mundane neoclassical streets with a display of ostentatious bravado. “I am hard to look away from”, our lead thinks to herself as one of the leaf-shaped sequins threaded onto her baby pink mini-dress catches the eyes of a group of men situated on the sage green chairs in Jardin des Tuileries.

They peer above their newspapers to sneak a glance at the lacey boudoir-style slip and brilliant-cut diamonds that frame her intoxicating features. Alas, all they manage to catch is the glistening thin fringes of her neck-tie-like rose gold necklace that flow like pieces of ribbon in the wind. 

That evening, our protagonist grows tired of the pomp and circumstance of the people she’s with. She wants to revel in the sartorial splendour of these histrionic jewels, their immense craftsmanship and natural wonder. She whisks herself away from the crowd to find solace in the plush cabaret chairs of the Moulin Rouge resting underneath the iconic windmills. 

The blinding high-jewellery accessories—namely Chaumet’s signature Jeux de Liens Harmony medallions—that decorate her decolletage and ornament her wrists serve as sartorial tinsel, a compelling finishing flourish that charms even the sternest pragmatists.  

Tomorrow, she’ll sail into the world of fantasy again. But tonight, like every night, is a moment for the dreamers. Those who, like the high jewellery houses, imagine the possibilities of a world made more beautiful by the creation of enchanting creations and accessories which thread together centuries of tradition. Here, in the city of lights, fulfilling your reveries is a matter of indulging in your heart’s desires.
