This made my isolated morning. Carole Baskin – the made-for-TV villain and reluctant star of Tiger King – has given her first television interview since the wildly popular Netflix docu-series began streaming. Except… she didn’t realise she was being completely punked.

YouTube pranksters Archie Manners and Josh Pieters pretended to be producers on the The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. After a few back-and-fourths whereby Baskin negotiated to appear on the “show” on the proviso she didn’t talk about Tiger King, Manners and Pieters confirmed Quarantine’s biggest name.

They organised a Zoom call, did an incredible job at pretending to check volume levels before explaining to the big cat caretaker that she wouldn’t be able to see Fallon during the interview – but that the host could indeed see Baskin. The duo then stitched together interview questions and reactions from past Fallon interviews and played them to Baskin.

Manners and Pieters uploaded the hilarious prank to their YouTube channel.

Despite being duped, Baskin told US Weekly she “isn’t angry” about the “fun prank”. “I was suspicious as we were doing it because the questions appeared taped, but had no idea it would turn out to be such a fun prank,” she said. “It gave us a very welcome good laugh. I appreciate their cleverness and that they created their video in a way that I don’t feel was in any way mean-spirited.”

Take a break from your isolation worries and have a laugh.
