Cardi B might just be after Kylie Jenner’s title as the biggest celebrity fan of the iconic Hermès Birkin handbag. The rapper has never been shy about sharing the love for one of the world’s most coveted accessories – after all, she wears them to almost every event and even included the lyrics ‘Birkin bag, Bardi back’ in her hit single ‘Up’ – but the star recently revealed just how extensive her collection of Birkin bags really is.
In an Instagram post, Cardi is seen toting yet another rare Birkin bag, this one in a tan hue with oversized cargo pockets. As the ‘W.A.P’ singer revealed on the platform, she had been hunting the military-style bag down and even paid a buyers premium of a reported $326,000.
“I wanted this f–king Birkin so bad. Y’all don’t understand, I called every f–king Hermès store, it just came out this year… I had to pay triple but I just love it,” she said in a video. “I just thought it was so amazing, she’s so pretty.”
In the post of Cardi showing off her latest purchase, she also revealed at least 26 other Hermès Birkin bags that she currently owns. Every size, style and colour of the rainbow was on display, from the luxury house’s signature orange shade to a (no doubt exorbitantly exxy) purple alligator iteration.
The 28-year-old’s husband, Offset, is also a fan of the storied French leather goods and is often seen carrying a matching tote to Cardi. While she prefers the more demure 35cm and 40 cm options, Offset prefers the oversized weekender versions.
The couple even gifted their 2-year-old daughter Kulture a Birkin of her very own last year, which drew some public criticism. “Stop letting people on the internet tell ya’ll who can get a Birkin at the store, and how many Birkins you can get,” Offset said in response.
All we can say is – we’re jealous.
