We’ve been getting subtle hints that Cara Delevingne has been stepping up her model game since July 27 when she appeared (in that Versace turtleneck), on James Corden’s new late night segment Drop The Mic. But it was this past weekend that the actress really entered movie star territory, the 23-year-old exchanging her trademark hoodie and wagging tongue for a comic-book take on the likes of Alexandre Vauthier.

Promoting her new film Suicide Squad in New York, Delevingne, fiercely strutted out the doors of her Tribeca Hotel on Friday, Saturday and Sunday channelling a quarter of Harley Quinn each time.

There were no selfies, no smiles; it was all business along the photographer-lined runway that followed the Tribeca doors to the waiting car. Three shows in three days.

Rumours that the actress and her girlfriend Annie “St Vincent” Clark are engaged continue to swirl amid Delevingne’s recent admission she’s “completely in love”. “Before I didn’t know what was love was – real love, I didn’t understand the depth of it. I always used to think it was you against the world. Now I know the meaning of life is love. Whether that’s for yourself or for the world or your partner.”

All eyes are looking to Delevingne’s left hand with two bubbling questions: is that jewel on your finger this weekend an engagement ring, Cara? And are you trying to distract us by blowing us away with your wardrobe?
