For 70 years, Cannes Film Festival has been the romantic intersection between film stars, directors and cinema excellence. The parties – the best hosted at iconic mansion Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc – see the most beautiful women in the world showcase couture so intricate, it makes more headlines than the films (and their in-frequent standing ovations) themselves. Last year the auction inside consisted of a prize where you could stay at Leonardo DiCaprio’s Palm Springs pad, all proceeds go to The American Foundation for AIDS Research.

This year, Rihanna will make her Cannes debut and co-host the Chopard annual party at Port Pierre Canto, a party that is set to be huge considering the 70th year of the festival. Security will no doubt be tightened amid last year’s terror scare.

All eyes though will be on that first day red carpet – and the second and the third and the seventh – as the biggest Hollywood names descend upon the famous Boulevard de la Croisette to celebrate the 49-film selection. Films to look out for: Isabelle Hupert in Happy End, Kristen Stewart’s directorial debut in Come Swim, Tilda Swinton in Okja and Michelle Williams and Julianne Moore in Wonderstruck

Until then, airport style is where it’s at with Emily Ratajkoswki, Bella Hadid, Marion Cotillard, Susan Sarandon, Julianne Moore, Eva Herzigova and Elle Fanning flying in (the latter starring in hyped up Sophia Coppola’s The Beguiled.)
