With the French Riviera as its backdrop, Cannes is the most romantic and indulgent film festival in history; a place where, for 69 years, it’s been the intersection between film stars, directors and cinema excellence. Overnight, Woody Allen’s Café Society debuted and while everyone was talking about Blake Lively’s baby bump, unfortunately just one hour before the red carpet premiere, the director’s son published a scathing story about his father in The Hollywood Reporter. Then there was the critic’s reviews of the film, described at best as a “fizzle”.
