We’ll admit it, we rolled our eyes a little when we first heard Leo DiCaprio was dating Camila Morrone a couple of years ago. A model less than half his age? Of course he is.
But the more we learn about Camila Morrone the more we have to give the girl credit.
She responded to nasty comments on her Instagram in July with a picture of Hollywood icons Lauren Bacall and Humphrey Bogart, who met and fell in love when Bacall was 19 and Bogart was 45.
“A love like this,” she wrote.
Fair play, gf.
And there’s a huge amount of buzz around her performance in Mickey and the Bear, in which she plays a teen living in a small town in Montana and navigating a tricky relationship with her father, an opioid-addicted war veteran.

Morrone received a standing ovation at Cannes for her work in the film and won the rising star award at the San Diego Film Festival. This week, launching the film in New York City, she stunned crowds with her style and poise.
She spoke to ET about the film and being compared to Jennifer Lawrence and her Oscar-nominated turn in Winter’s Bone.
“She is someone whose talent and career choices I really admire. It is, of course, very flattering to hear this comparison; now it is important for me to follow this up, continue working on my skill set as an actor, and choose meaningful stories to tell,” she said.
Of the transition from model to actor, she said, “I personally felt like I made that transition a while ago, but it definitely took and is still taking some time for others to see me solely as “actor.” This is what I have dedicated my time to every day for over three years now. It is my priority and I’m very invested in doing the best job I possibly can do. I think with more work and time, eventually that will become clearer.”
Asked what’s next for her, she said, “In a dream world, it is to be able to continue picking and choosing projects that stand out to me and challenge me. Working with directors I look up to and alongside talented actors that push me to be better. If I can have a career based on playing roles that are a challenge and tell an important story, and for no alternative reason, then I have succeeded.”
Basically, she sounds like she has a pretty good head on her shoulders and seems to be mature beyond her years. Maybe we should cut the girl some slack and let her and Leo enjoy what could well be a beautiful and meaningful relationship.
