As the sun begins to welcome and then farewell the final day and night of the utopian Burning Man festival this year, glimmers of celebrity pictures begin to emerge from the 70000-strong reception-less festival-goer crowd. And there in Nevada’s arid Black Rock Desert where an entire city is built in a week and then dragged down again, Katy Perry surfaces. So does Paris Hilton. And Karlie Kloss (does she not seem a little too wholesome to be at this type of festival?) And of course Cara and Poppy Delevingne.
There’s been an uproar this year; millionaires, billionaires and celebrities alike have been threatening to disable the “self-reliance” BM motto with highly plugged-in camps with chefs, builders and security, making it easier for internationals high-profiles to drop in for quick visits to the week-long festival, the UK Telegraph reports.
Two of those were Poppy and Cara.
But for the fashion-forward among us, we’re most interested in the elaborateness of the costumes. And while the aforementioned all opted for pops of colour, it was The Delevingne sisters’s braids with colourful wool intertwined that won 2016’s BM Best Dressed. Hilton managed to upload many a leotard-wielding photo but she was no match for those who prepared their hairstyles early. Perfecting their style on Melrose Ave Beverley Hills yesterday before jetsetting into the desert for two-nights, Cara and Poppy were later spotted partying with Hilton, Scott Eastwood, Nina Agdal and Derek Blasberg. And they made it just in time to see the last of the burning flecks on the 30-metre effigy Man.
