When Melbourne-born actress Olivia DeJonge was cast as the effervescent Priscilla Presley in Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis biopic, the role heralded a slew of attention from luxury houses. One of them was Bulgari who recently tapped the about-to-be-hugely-famous 23-year-old Australian star as its new jewellery and watch ambassador.

The film also stars Austin Butler as The King Of Rock, Tom Hanks as Elvis’ manager Colonel Tom Parker, Dacre Montgomery as the singer’s producer Steve Binder, and the delightful Maggie Gyllanhaal as Elvis’ mother Gladys.

“I obviously want to do the best job I can authentically to Priscilla herself because she’s still alive,” DeJonge said in a 2020 interview.

As an ambassador for Bulgari, DeJonge joins a stellar club including Zendaya,  Priyanka Chopra, Chiara Ferragni and Lisa from Black Pink.

“Bulgari has such an amazing legacy and connection to the cinema industry,” DeJonge says of the Roman house. “Their creations have been worn by the most beautiful and inspiring women in the world… [Bulgari] designs [have] this unique savoir-faire & boldness, which makes them so desirable. I am thrilled and honoured to be joining the Bulgari family.”

Born in Melbourne and raised in Perth, DeJonge fell into acting at age 12 and landed a few smaller roles while in high school. She is best known for her role Netflix’s drama series The Society, an American mystery where a bunch of teens return form an excursion to find all the adults in their town are missing.

DeJonge auditioned just once for Luhrmann who then offered the role of Priscilla.

The Elvis biopic is currently slated for a June 2022 release into cinemas.
