We don’t have to tell you twice, proportion is fashion’s big player for 2020. The Spring Summer 2020 runways were littered with puffy volume – inflated shoulders, ample trapeze dresses and skirts so big they made the 19th Century bustle seem like a breeze (Balenciaga sent bell-shaped ball gowns so big it was hard to fathom how the models even moved). And if you don’t believe us, just ask Selena Gomez.

In another milestone fashion moment, Gomez attended the Dolittle premiere in head-to-toe Givenchy Couture from Winter 19. Styled by Kate Young (who is seemingly unstoppable at present), the singer / actress wore a simple ribbed turtleneck in bubblegum pink and voluminous, bustle-lined skirt in black, which puffed out in sculptural tuffs at the hip.

A lesson in how to execute inflated proportion, when trying puff at home (the fashion kind), take heed of Selena Gomez and court the drama with simple silhouettes and clean colour.
