When scrolling through Instagram in recent weeks, you’d be forgiven for thinking you’d stumbled across one of the many ’90s and early aughts era accounts documenting celebrity street style from the time, showing a loved-up Posh and Becks walking the streets of London hand-in-hand.

But on second glance, you’ll realise the couple at hand is, in fact, the generation below — quite literally: it’s David and Victoria Beckham’s eldest son, Brooklyn, and his new wife, Nicola Peltz.

Following the couple’s lavish Miami wedding in April, Peltz has undergone a beauty transformation, taking queues from her new mother-in-law and replacing her signature blonde hair with a dark brunette shade with new wispy bangs. Her husband, too, has undergone a transformation of his own, changing up his wardrobe to include baggy jeans, oversized shirts and band tees to match Peltz’s edgy look and the aesthetic of a young Brad Pitt (or, for that matter, David Beckham).

In recent weeks, the pair have been showcasing their couple style, going on what some would dub PR outings (a moment of silence for Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas’ pandemic dog walks), by leaving the house hand-in-hand in co-ordinated, styled outfits for an excursion wherein the paparazzi coincidentally happen to catch them — usually in a perfectly candid mid-laugh.

For their latest day out, Peltz looked every bit Y2K, wearing a cropped red bandeau top paired with high-waisted cargo style pants, black leather platform clogs, a black Fendi baguette bag and black square-frame sunglasses.

Beckham, meanwhile, wore a white tee with a Kurt Cobain print, blue baggy jeans, white Nike Air Force 1 sneakers, and matched Peltz with black wraparound shades.

The couple’s new habit of channelling and recreating early aughts Posh and Becks’ iconic street style moments would be dubbed nothing more than a cute coincidence (or Beckham’s next artistic venture), but it’s currently instead raising a few eyebrows due to the rumoured feud between Peltz and Victoria Beckham.

According to sources who spoke with Page Six, the women fell out ahead of the Beckham-Peltz wedding and things have been tense between the young newlyweds and the rest of the Beckham family since. Furthermore, apparently, VB wasn’t too happy about the Tatler magazine cover dubbing Peltz, “The new Mrs Beckham”. So who knows what she thinks of these recent snapshots… A troll? A tribute? A coincidence?

Ah, the drama.
