Oh, how the nostalgia flows. January 5 cannot come soon enough. Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston have both been nominated for Golden Globes overnight – and you can bet your bottom dollar the seating committee and the cameramen are already working on capturing a moment. It is television, after all.
Aniston earned a Best Actress In A Drama Series nomination for her role as the determined and powerful news anchor Alex Lexy in Apple TV+ phenomenon The Morning Show. Pitt picked up a nomination for Best Supporting Actor In A Motion Picture in the musical or comedy category for his role as the double-denim wearing stuntman Cliff Booth in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon A Time… In Hollywood.
Aniston and Pitt’s co-stars were also nominated: Reese Witherspoon for The Morning Show (and the same category as Aniston) and Leonardo DiCaprio for Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy.
The last time Aniston and Pitt attended the Golden Globes together was in 2002 – twenty years almost to the day since these pictures were taken.
Despite divorcing in 2005 amid rumours Pitt began an affair with his Mr And Mrs Smith co-star Angelina Jolie (whom he later married), the former pair have remained friends. Pitt even attended Aniston’s 50th birthday celebrations in February this year.
“Someone extended the invitation to Brad to come to Jen’s party and he accepted,” a source told E! News. “He wanted to support Jen and it was a momentous occasion. But that’s the extent of it. It was a social evening with a lot of people who have been a part of her life. They definitely aren’t dating or on that path. They are friendly, but that’s it.”
The Golden Globes will take place on January 5 2020 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles.
