Blake Lively may have channelled her suave criminal housewife character from the über-stylish A Simple Favour in a Tiffany & Co. blue mermaid dress at a celebration for the jeweller’s Tiffany Titan by Pharrell Williams collection, but her latest public appearance is planting a seed for what’s to come.

If the adage, “from little things, big things grow” is correct, we’re taking the actress’ botanical Chanel suit as a sign the It Ends With Us press tour will be as impressive as the novel’s book sales figures.

Lively joined Chanel for the French Maison’s annual soiree at the Tribeca Film Festival. Titled the Artists Dinner, the luxuriate gathered Hollywood heavyweights, sartorial luminaries, auteurs, actresses and ambassadors to the house for an evening at downtown’s hallmark French bistro, The Odeon. Given the setting, it was only right that Lively used the occasion to subtly market the highly anticipated page-to-screen adaptation.

In the film, Lively stars as main character Lily Bloom, with her two-piece floral set an homage to her dramatis personae. Lively, who notably doesn’t work with a stylist, plucked the ensemble from Chanel’s escapist-inspired Spring/Summer 2024 collection, presented last September at Paris Fashion Week.

The silhouette felt more 70s in nature, with a double-breasted jacket and wide-leg pants emblazoned with watercolour floral motifs and the brand’s signature interlocking ‘C’ logo, which was illustrated in a range of pastel hues. The mother-of-four accessorised her look with a matching manicure and a crystal flap bag.

Though the look is far from Villa Noailles, the mid-century locale that inspired the collection, it was fitting for a fête to creative director Virginie Viard as she steps down from the helm. Lively’s relationship with Chanel has endured throughout Viard’s entire tenure, with the Gossip Girl alumni hand-selected by Karl Lagerfeld as their ‘Mademoiselle’ du jour.

And while revelries rang on, Lively did find a spare moment to plug the upcoming release too, telling VOGUE, “I think I put more into that movie than anything in my entire life, other than my family.” “I am just so excited for people to see it. So many people connected with the book, and I think the film reaches out and grabs your heart in the same way,” she continued.
