Blake Lively wasn’t overly publicly political during the US presidential election compared to fellow celebrities like Katy Perry and Miley Cyrus. But she hinted at where her allegiances lay on social media, and she was undoubtedly #WithHer.

In the wake of Hillary Clinton’s loss to Donald Trump and the missed opportunity for America to elect its first female president, many, especially women, are feeling disheartened. But at her first official event since welcoming her second daughter in September, the 29-year-old had some words to inspire and motivate women to keep fighting for their rights.

“Just … use your voice,” she told Elle.com at L’Oréal Paris’s Women of Worth event in New York on Wednesday night. “Don’t let anybody silence you, ever, and it’s about spreading love, you know?

“Because that’s the easy thing to do right now, is to say—women, you get angry or you get upset or you get hurt and you want to lash out, but what we’re combatting is hate. So it’s about spreading love and using your voice.”

Blake and husband Ryan Reynolds are parents to daughter James, one, and another daughter who they welcomed at the end of September, so it’s no wonder she was hoping for the US to elect its first woman leader. #Michelle2020
