New York City has honoured the iconic late photographer Bill Cunningham by renaming a street corner ‘Bill Cunningham Corner’

A street corner in Manhattan where the iconic photographer Bill Cunningham took many of the photos that would define his inestimable legacy has temporarily been renamed in his honour.
Earlier today at the corner of Fifth Avenue and 57th Street, Mayor Bill de Blasio’s wife Chirlane McCray unveiled a commemorative street sign that paid tribute to the late milliner turned New York Times street photographer, whose work is largely credited with, as Mayor de Blasio himself put it, shaping “city’s diversity in every sense of the word, and helped define New York as the fashion capital of the world.”
Cunningham, who died on June 25 at the age of 87, will receive a more permanent memorial to be unveiled at a later date.
