Beyonce’s Lemonade earned an incredible eight awards at last month’s MTV Video Music Awards, but Bey won’t be adding a Creative Arts Emmy to her mantelpiece just yet.
The visual album, which premiered on HBO in April, was nominated in the Variety Special category at the awards ceremony held in Los Angeles on Saturday and Sunday nights, but lost to The Late Late Show With James Corden‘s prime-time special Carpool Karaoke.
The show’s regular segment has seen some of the world’s biggest artists sing along to their own songs with Corden in a car, and often speak more candidly than in normal interviews. The host also beat Adele and Amy Schumer: Live at the Apollo, a testament to how successful Carpool Karaoke has become.
The most memorable guests include Michelle Obama (with a brief appearance from Missy Elliot), Adele, Jennifer Lopez and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
