We’re all feeling a little doom and gloom right now, and it’s certainly warranted, given the state of the world. Thankfully though, the vicious black hole of a news cycle isn’t all there is. There’s been improvements in some locations, reduced infection rates, and also a huge outpouring of support from businesses world over. Beauty is one such industry that’s extended a helping hand, pivoting from normal production runs to instead churn out desperately needed alcohol sanitisers or PPE for those on the front line. Below, you’ll find a few of said brands, like MAC Cosmetics who have pledged $10 million dollars or Jurlique, who is working with Sydney hospitals to deliver hand cream – a tiny bit of good in what is otherwise a desperately sad time. GlassHouse

Glasshouse Fragrances have enlisted their in-house chemists to produce a powerful luxury ‘Lost in Amalfi’ Hand Sanitiser containing 65% ethyl alcohol, nourishing ingredients such as Aloe Vera and freshly scented with freesia, lavender, lime and moss.  The brand has also pledged to donate 500 of these care packages to three local Sydney-based hospitals and will continue to do so in the face of Covid-19 as a small token of their appreciation for those working on the frontline.

 

MAC Cosmetics 

M·A·C Cosmetics, Viva Glam

M·A·C Cosmetics recently announced that its long-standing VIVA GLAM campaign – which supports organisations and programs providing essential needs and services – will dedicate $10 million USD towards those on the front lines helping people at higher risk during the COVID-19 pandemic. To add to the initial donation, M·A·C is asking people to join the fight from home by purchasing a VIVA GLAM Lipstick where 100 p[er cent of the proceeds will provide additional support to those vulnerable communities. The additional support will provide M·A·C’s existing partners with emergency COVID-19 relief funds to continue providing vital services, including delivering food supplies, ensuring clients remain informed and on medication, and testing and treating diagnosed cases, particularly those who are immunocompromised.

Iconic French beauty brand, L’occitane, is donating 10,000 of its Shea Butter Hand Cream to nurses and medical staff working on the frontline in Australia during the current COVID-19 crisis. “Here at L’OCCITANE we’re pleased to be able to share our Shea Butter Hand Cream with the invaluable staff at the frontline around the country, whom have been working hard over the past number of weeks. Their efforts should not go unnoticed and we thank for them for all that they do with this small token of appreciation.” – Pierre-Emmanuel Joffre, Managing Director L’occitane.

Globally, some of the production facilities in Manosque have been reassigned to the production of verbena scented hand-sanitiser. 50,000 300ml tubes, containing 15 tonnes of hydro-alcoholic gel, have been manufactured to be donated for the use of healthcare services, firefighters and hospitals.

Jurlique

Partnering with the Sydney Local Health District and directly with hospital donation departments within each state, Jurlique has donated 22,000 of their original and much-loved Rose Hand Cream to those who have been working tirelessly on the front-line, including but not limited to doctors, nurses, hospital administration support teams and cleaning Units. Globally, Jurlique are making further direct donations to hospitals and medical centres with 12,000 units of Jurlique Rose Hand Cream allocated between Hong Kong and China.
