Australian stylist Elliot Garnaut, in collaboration with designer and founder of Bayse Brand Effie Kats, has released his debut clothing collection: Bayse by Elliot Garnaut.

It’s sleek and cool—of course—but it’s the premise of this unisex capsule that makes Garnaut’s brand deft, unique and super interesting. A sartorial answer to a modern-day wardrobe quandary: most people lack the basics needed to coexist with pieces they already own. And that’s where Bayse comes in.

“[Throughout] my entire career, I have been asked how to establish a wardrobe of foundations. This collection is the answer to that,” says Garnaut. “I wanted to create a collection that can be worn whenever, by whoever. Whether you meditate in it, or party until dawn in it, I designed the collection with harmony at the forefront of my mind, to take the stress [out] of thinking about what to wear.”

Bayse already boasts 45+ stockists in Australia, as well as prestigious international stockists including global retail powerhouse Selfridges of London.

Below, Garnaut takes GRAZIA readers through his favourite pieces from his debut collection.

Bayse by Elliot GarnautA great pair of denim jeans are the backbone of any wardrobe. Style them up with a classic black blazer, or down with a hoodie and you’ll have a look for any time of the day.”

“The Chapel cargo skirt has become the dark horse of the collection and has started to sell out in sizes! I actually love it back with a sneaker, oversized tee and cap for that off-duty Hailey Biebs moment.”

“The Anderson spray pant is personally my favourite item in the entire collection. Worn back with the Wayward tank makes for a super chic gym-into-a-coffee look. The Anderson Shacket is a great errands look and or even the Gimlet blazer for a more directional fashion moment. I’ve worn these pieces on planes, in Ubers, to dinners and even once to bed in the sampling process [laughs]. They’re understated, yet elevated. What more could you want?”
