Damien Chazelle’s La La Land has been named Best Picture at the 2017 British Academy of Film and Television Awards in London but it was a case of Ooh La La when The Duchess and Duke of Cambridge hit the red carpet. In their first appearance at the ceremony at the Royal Albert Hall, Middleton wore an elegant off-the-shoulder Alexander McQueen gown adorned with small white flowers.

La La Land took home five awards of its 11 nominations including Best Actress for Emma Stone’s portrayal of struggling actress Mia and Best Director in Damien Chazelle. Casey Affleck controversially won Best Actor for Manchester By The Sea, a decision some have criticised amid the disturbing sexual harassment allegations against him. And while all eyes were on Nicole Kidman’s sleek, yet plunging Giorgio Armani neckline, her co-star Dev Patel was deservingly awarded the Best Supporting Actor prize for Lion, which also won Best Adapted Screenplay. Viola Davis took home Best Supporting Actress for her role as Rose Maxson in the Denzel Washington-directed film, Fences.

As an attender of this year’s awards, stars either opted for floral accents from McQueen a la Middleton, Emily Blunt and Eddie Redmayne’s wife Hannah Bagshawe or metallic.
