Ariana Grande is being sued by songwriter Alex Greggs who claims the One Last Time singer copied a song he wrote for Skye Stevens, Takes All Night, in 2012. David Guetta who wrote Grande’s single is listed as defendants in the lawsuit among Universal Music and Republic Records.
Greggs says the similarities between the two singles “is so striking that it is highly likely the works were not created independently of one another,” Variety reports. His main gripe is the similarity in the chorus and the “harmonic background [which] remains the same in both songs for the entire sixteen measures of the chorus.”
Greggs is demanding AUD $197,000 per infringement. Take a listen and see if he has a case:
