When Ansel Elgort burst onto the scene in the 2014 romance The Fault in Our Stars, he was instantly dubbed Hollywood’s next big name. A lead role in Baby Driver alongside Lily James soon followed and Elgort became a heartthrob to young millennials and those in Gen Z. What made the actor even more endearing was the fact that he was not only in a relationship with someone outside of the industry, but that he was still with his high school sweetheart, dancer Violetta Komyshan.

Then in June 2020, Elgort’s squeaky clean reputation was muddied when he was accused of sexually assaulting a 17-year-old named Gabby in 2014, which he denies. “I cannot claim to understand Gabby’s feelings but her description of events is simply not what happened,” he wrote in part on Instagram. “I have never and would never assault anyone.”

Both Elgort and Komyshan then began staying off social media and posting a lot less about their romance. Then, in April, fans started speculating the pair had split when they noticed Komyshan deleted almost all her photos of Elgort, while he deleted every image on his own social media.

But in a surprise twist, the pair, who have now been together for nearly a decade, appeared on the red carpet together for the first time in nearly two years, confirming they’re very much an item for the premiere of Elgort’s new film West Side Story.

For the occasion, the 25-year-old ballerina wore a floor-length gold, strapless gown with matching gold heels, while the 27-year-old actor wore a classic black tuxedo.

Their appearance is the first time they’ve been spotted at a public event together since the January 2020 Golden Globes.

There you have it: no breakups to see here. Perhaps Elgort just wanted to emulate celebrities such as Jennifer Lawrence, Lorde and Margot Robbie and have less of a social media presence moving forward. Smart.
