Did Anne Hathaway wear the Chanel boots to this year’s Met Gala?
Sadly no Anne Hathaway did not wear the Chanel boots to the Met Gala and while this writer feels like it was again an opportunity missed but the actress looked stunning nonetheless.

Looking every inch one of the supermodels she was channeling, Hathaway arrived at the red carpet wearing white, Swarovski crystal bedazzled custom Atelier Versace gown and custom coin choker by Bulgari.
While Lagerfeld may have never worked at Versace, the codes of the gown very much point to the night’s theme,“Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty,” which celebrates the late designer’s life, work and impact on the fashion world.
Lagerfeld made no secret of his love for the 90s supermodel and he worked with them regularly in his shows for both Fendi and Chanel. His shows were a powerhouse of influence and fame that included Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, Kate Moss, Claudia Schiffer and Karen Mulder.
Hathaway’s entire look encapsulates this era – the exaggerated hair, the safety pin dress that put Elizabeth Hurley on the map. But, and no offence to Donnatella, the dress itself also reads very Chanel. That white tweed with pearl detailing could just as easily have found its way onto a Chanel Spring Summer runway.
It’s the perfect marriage of Versace for Lagerfeld and yes, I’ll admit, better than dusting off a joke from a movie that’s almost a decade old. But still…
On the topic of jewellery, however, the custom made Bulgari jewellery was also crafted with Lagerfeld in mind, taking inspiration from the Chanel coin accessories beloved during the ’80s.
