It’s a narrative a lot of women are familiar with. And, even if you haven’t found yourself in a jealous mindspace in your relationship, you will still be able to empathise with Anna Faris. Married to Chris Pratt for five years, rumours began swirling when he was cheating on Faris with his Passengers co-star Jennifer Lawrence in 2016. Refreshingly, Faris – in her new memoir Unqualified, has not hidden away from how this media commentary affected her and her relationship.

Faris’ publicist called her to prepare the actress for the paparazzi surrounding Pratt and Lawrence ahead of the release of the ill-fated film. “‘There are going to be shots of them laughing together on their way to set,’” Faris’ publicist warned. “‘There are going to be stories circulating, and you have to brace yourself for this.’”

Pratt had worked with several attractive co-stars in the past namely Bryce Dallas Howard in Jurassic World, Aubrey Plaza in Parks and Rec and Zoe Saldana in Guardians Of The Galaxy, something Faris says she was never bothered by. Perhaps though her relationship wasn’t already in a great place when Pratt began filming with Lawrence.

“The coverage, even though it was false rumours, was making me feel insecure,” Faris admits. “Jennifer and I really are friendly, and she was apologetic even though she didn’t need to be, because she hadn’t done anything wrong. She’s awesome,” Faris said. “But of course it’s hurtful and also embarrassing when people are saying your husband is cheating on you—even if it’s patently untrue. You still feel and look like a fool.’”

Faris and Pratt co-parent five-year-old son Jack.
