Angelina Jolie isn’t one to open the doors to her home often. But in a recent interview, the actress – still as ridiculously beautiful as ever – let the public inside her Los Angeles mansion, which she bought because she wanted her children “to be close to their dad, who is only five minutes away.”

Jolie, who has six kids with her ex-husband, Brad Pitt: Maddox, 19, Pax, 17, Zahara, 16, Shiloh, 14, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 12, has kept her head high throughout her and Pitt’s divorce, which was announced suddenly in 2016, after seven years together and two years married. But when asked whether she’s in a happy stage in her life, the actress candidly replied, “I don’t know.”

“The past few years have been pretty hard,” she said. “I’ve been focusing on healing our family. It’s slowly coming back, like the ice melting and the blood returning to my body.”

In 2017, Jolie opened up about the split for the first time, telling Vanity Fair, that she’d ensure she put on a brave face for her children. “I think it’s very important to cry in the shower and not in front of them,” she said at the time. “They need to know that everything’s going to be all right even when you’re not sure it is.”

Jolie also admitted that though she’s isolating at home with all of her brood due to the pandemic, she thinks she is “lacking in all the skills to be a traditional stay-at-home mum.”

“Even though I wanted to have many children and be a mum, I always imagined it kind of like Jane Goodall, traveling in the middle of the jungle somewhere,” she explained. “I didn’t imagine it in that true, traditional sense.”

After such a tumultuous period, both on a personal and global level, Jolie, who’s 46, also said she’s ready to begin the next decade of her life.

“I’m looking forward to my fifties — I feel that I’m gonna hit my stride in my fifties,” she said. “Though we were on the trampoline the other day, and the children said, ‘No, Mom, don’t do that. You’ll hurt yourself.’ And I thought, ‘God, isn’t that funny?’ There was a day I was an action star, and now the kids are telling me to get off the trampoline because I’ll hurt myself.”
