Before Ben Affleck famously reunited with Jennifer Lopez during a week-long vacation in Montanna, he was dating Cuban-Spanish actress Ana de Armas. The couple started dating in early 2020 when they met on the set of their upcoming film, Deep Water. You could probably anticipate what came next. Affleck and de Armas self-isolated together during lockdown, published many PDA-fuelled walking snaps together and eventually split in January the following year.
Now, the Hulu thriller we all forgot about has released a trailer to the erotica-fulled movie and the whole thing feels so meta. If only we could bottle that chemistry. The exes portray the couple of Vic and Melinda Van Allen and according to the synopsis, explores “the dangerous mind games they play and what happens to the people that get caught up in them.”
The Knives Out actress plays a married seductress who seemingly cheats in plain sight. “Do you think we’ll ever be just happy?” Melinda asks Vic. “God, I hope so,” he responds.
Deep Water will be available to stream on Hulu for US viewers and Prime Video for Australia from March 18.
Affleck and de Armas dated for less than a year but a report at the time suggested it was a mutual split. “They are in different points in their lives and there is deep love and respect there and Ben continues to want to work on himself,” a source told People. “He has three jobs lined up and he’s a solid father at home. They are both happy with where they are in their lives.”
De Armas is currently dating Tinder VP Paul Boukadakis and Affleck is deliriously in love with J Lo. For Valentine’s Day last month, The Tender Bar actor compiled a video montage which featured snippets of their previousl 2002 relationship through to now. I dare you not to cry.
