In the final day of cross-examination in a court case between Amber Heard and Johnny Depp it was revealed that the actress had James Franco visit her penthouse apartment the evening before she filed for divorce from her husband. Depp’s lawyer Camille Vasquez questioned Heard on her previous testimony where she revealed plans to seek a temporary domestic violence restraining order on May 27, 2016, so she could change the locks.

She was asked by the attorney on why she felt comfortable, just days prior on May 22, allowing Franco into the apartment if she was scared of Depp’s alleged rage and jealousy. Heard previously questioned the date of Franco’s visit before she was shown surveillance footage of the pair entering her elevator.

“That’s where I lived, yes,” she said. Heard added that she did not know of Depp’s schedule when asked if she was aware that he was out of town. Explaining the visit from Franco she said, “He was my friend. And he lived next door, quite literally next door. And I, frankly, had exhausted my support network with my usual friends and was happy to welcome as much friendship at that time as I could possibly get.”

Heard filed for divorce from Depp one day later, on May 23. Depp previously testified that he believed the pair were having an affair – an allegation both parties have staunchly denied.

Vasquez suggested that Heard knew Depp was out of town, hence the visit from Franco, and was in no imminent danger when she requested a domestic violence restraining order just five days later.

Depp is suing Heard for a $50 million USD in a defamation lawsuit after a 2018 op-ed she wrote for the Washington Post, claiming she was a survivor of domestic abuse. While his name was not mentioned within the article, Depp claims he lost an important role and work due to the allegations. Heard is countersuing for $100 million claiming her ex-husband has launched a smear campaign to ruin her reputation.
