allisonwilliamsgirlsgraziaAllison Williams is facing life after Girls, the HBO hit that saw her rise from an unknown to an actor on one of the most popular series on television.

The actress filmed her final scenes for the show on Thursday, and shared an emotional photo of herself in tears as she hugged her co-star and the show’s creator, Lena Dunham.

“Marnie has officially gone wherever all characters go when we stop watching them,” she captioned the photo posted to Instgram. “And I couldn’t feel luckier that I got to play her. This lady, @lenadunham gave me everything,” she continued. “She gave me the most incredible challenges and adventures and the opportunity to know and love our GIRLS family.

“She also gave me her fierce friendship, wit, love, and loyalty, all while making me giggle on a constant basis. Sitting next to Lena while being directed by @jennikonner, it all felt completely right. Then I immediately burst into some pretty rare tears, because it hit me that I don’t know what my adult life looks like without Girls.”

Friday is the last ever shoot day for the series, with its sixth and last season set to air in the first half of 2017.

In January Lena explained why the seriously popular show, which has charted the lives of four friends in New York City as a sort of antidote to the glamour of Sex And The City, would end after six seasons.

“I conceived of Girls when I was 23 and now I’m nearly 30 – the show has quite perfectly spanned my 20s, the period of time that it’s about – and so it feels like the right time to wrap our story up,” she told Entertainment Weekly.

“We look forward to creating a sixth season that will honor our amazing cast, crew, and fans. And in the Girls universe, nothing ever ends too neatly.”

Allison is yet to announce any major new projects, but it’s safe to say she’s earned some time off after six years portraying the neurotic, ambitious, lost, frustrated, but somehow still loveable, Marnie Michaels.
